Limbo is a new violin sonata by Chloé Charody, written especially for the unique acrobatic skills of violin virtuoso Sonja Schebeck.
In this groundbreaking interdisciplinary duet, Sonja teams up with acrobat Josh Frazer to use dynamic partner acrobatics, duo unicycle and Cyr Wheel to tell a poignant story that combines circus and classical music in one captivating world. Limbo is set in the Melbourne Park Hotel in 2021, a time when many refugees have been detained indefinitely, some of them detained by the Australian government for up to 9 years. The sonata runs through emotions such as anger, frustration, fantasy and escape and explodes with one of the greatest weapons against oppression: hope.
