dis.cover
‘dis.cover‘ plays with the social construct of the woman* and the archetypes associated with it. Ariane juggles and moves, undressing herself in the process – covering and revealing body parts. Sometimes she exposes herself completely, at other times she withdraws from the curious gaze of the audience. Simona controls the light. Together they sing and play with the audience’s gaze and perception. Through movement, sound, emotion and light, they explore their supposed femininity. Little by little, the audience discovers complex, multi-layered personalities in dis.cover, full of conflicts and paradoxes – two women with unexpected abilities, two voices that tell of stereotyping and empowerment.
dis.cover is small, modest, quiet, political and a little odd. But it is also loud, angry, wild and demanding. The performance explores questions of femininity, perception, beauty, sensuality, vulnerability, emotionality, empowerment and strength:
An intensive search for the self.
