A circus that goes beyond borders
Palianytsia combines music, circus arts and an emotional journey. Three musicians form a’sophisticated chorus of clowns or geniuses‚ that accompanies the love story of a couple torn apart and reunited by the trials of life and history. The music composed especially for the show fluctuates between pocket fanfares and travel opera to emphasize the emotional highs and lows of the narrative.
The creators‘ desire is not to limit Palianytsia to Ukrainian borders, but to address the universal themes of war and totalitarianism that can resurface at any time. Inspired by films such as Fellini’s La Strada and Bergman’s The Naked Night, the show works with the absurd and creates dynamism through imperfect combinations of music and action.
A timeless circus tale that not only entertains but also makes you think.
